Picasolar Named Edison Award Finalist

February 12, 2015

Innovate Arkansas startup Picasolar of Fayetteville has been named a finalist for the 2015 Edison Awards, which recognize innovation in the global economy.

Picasolar CEO Douglas Hutchings says the recognition means Picasolar will receive either a Bronze, Silver or Gold award when the honorees are announced on April 23 in New York.

"The Edison Award highlights the innovative nature of our technology, and it's an honor for our team's accomplishments to be highlighted at this level," he said.

Picasolar's solar-cell innovation, a self-aligned, hydrogenated selective emitter for N-type cells, is no stranger to recognition or notice from the DOE

Last fall, Picasolar was infused with new rounds of public and private funding to scale the emitter.

The Edison Awards recognition represents the latest in a string of impressive accomplishments for Picasolar, which fused with its former sister firm Silicon Solar Solutions to operate as one entity.

Stay tuned. More to come...
