TiFiber, CycleWood Participating This Week at 2015 Startup Garage

Innovate Arkansas client firms TiFiber and cycleWood Solutions are two of 16 international tech startups exhibiting this week at the prestigious Startup Garage program, part of NPE 2015 in Orlando.

NPE is the triennial event from the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI), the industry trade association, founded in 1946. It's recognized as the world's largest trade show and this week, more than 2,000 exhibitors and 60,000 attendees have descended on Orlando.

TiFiber, which recently announced plans to move its corporate headquarters from Fayetteville to Fort Smith, develops antimicrobial polymers. TiFiber is a portfolio company of VIC Technology Venture Development.

Its description at the Startup Garage site:

Anti-microbial polymers that exhibit broad-spectrum activity against bacterial species, including drug-resistant strains such as MRSA. Among potential applications are medical devices and disposables, synthetic textiles, and consumer goods.

CycleWood Solutions is a UA startup that moved its corporate HQ to Dallas but maintains an office and lab at the UA's Arkansas Research & Technology Park. It develops and markets biodegradable trash bags called Xylobags.

Compostable and sustainable resins produced from lignin in tree byproducts generated during papermaking. LDPE-like film grades are 100% compostable. Injection molding grades are available in either compostable or sustainable (blended with polyolefins) versions.
