Douglas Hutchings of IA Client Picasolar Makes AB 40 Under 40
Douglas Hutchings of IA client Picasolar finds himself on the Arkansas Business 40 Under 40 list for 2015.
Hutchings, 32, is CEO of the solar cell startup which is poised for big things in the industry.
Last month, Picasolar dedicated new HQ space at the UA's tech park in Fayetteville.

That motivated him to start building the beginnings of his current company, Picasolar Inc., while finishing up his master’s and doctoral degrees at the University of Arkansas. He said that the hands-on hard work at a young age helped prepare him for entrepreneurship — lessons he’s still applying today.
“I’ve always thought that if you want something enough, you’ll find the time and the energy to accomplish it,” Hutchings said.
Hutchings said the company, which spun off from Silicon Solar Solutions and incorporated in 2012, has since grown from just himself to now eight employees. The company builds and sells solar equipment to improve the efficiency and reduce the costs of using solar cells. He said he’s proud of the fact that without his company, more people would be leaving the state to pursue industry jobs.
