INOV8 Links: HS Startup Weekend, Designed By Few
By Mark Carter
The first-ever High School Startup Weekend rolls from the Clinton School in Little Rock this weekend. More than 80 students in grades 9-12 will converge on downtown Little Rock to network, brainstorm and hopefully launch some startups.
Plus, Designed By Few details are out, and more. Have a good weekend, and enjoy:
- Here's a preview of this weekend's inaugural High School Startup Weekend from Arkansas Business. (Is HSSW a bit unwieldy? We've got kids, we've got business ventures. How 'bout Savvy Startups, for short? That rolls....)
- By the way, judges for Savv...er, I mean, HSSW, include Greg Scruggs, a reserve defensive end for the Super Bowl champ Seattle Seahawks (Scruggs is active in the Seattle startup community), and Arkansas native Erica Swallow, an entrepreneur, startup culture journalist and contributor to pubs including Forbes, Mashable and the New York Times. More here on the judges.
- Designed By Few details are out. The companion event to Made By Few, DxF will roll August 22.
- The 2014 DWR Governor's Cup awards luncheon is Wednesday at the Statehouse Convention center in downtown Little Rock. Here's AB coverage of the naming of the finalists.
- The Arkansas Fellowship, a program to retain and attract entrepreneurial talent to the state, is up and running. More info here.
- Runners World on NWA: If you build it, they will come.
- IA client Treatsie has released its Easter offerings, including the yummy looking white chocolate bunny from Seattle above.
- Finally, one for the 'Why not?' file: A beginner's guide to cold reading someone.
