Innovation Hub's Hub-UB Series Resumes Wednesday in Argenta

October 7, 2014

The monthly Hub-UB series from the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub resumes Wednesday at 6 from the Argenta Branch Library in downtown North Little Rock.

(We completely forgot to include it in Monday's "Week Ahead" post...but really, it deserves its own post anyway.)

A local TED-like series led by Launch Pad maker space director Joel Gordon, the Hub-UB series is free and features a wide range of subjects. This week's topic: how technology is used on bridges.

That's a pertinent topic for central Arkansas these days as the state prepares to replace the old Broadway Bridge over the Arkansas River.

In other Hub news, the Launch Pad is closer to completion, with the installation of equipment and final touches tentatively set for later this month.

Plus, the EAST Initiative-sponsored STEAM Room will soon to see new equipment thanks to a recent gift from AT&T. More from the Hub:

Apple iMac computers loaded with professional software, large-format printers, Arduino microcontrollers and videography equipment ... those are just some of the exciting components coming to the Innovation Hub's EAST STEAM Lab, thanks to a $35,000 grant from AT&T. STEAM, of course, stands for science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. The STEAM Lab will help student of all ages excel in those areas.

"AT&T has always been at the forefront of supporting innovative opportunities for EAST students and we are excited to have them invest in our partnership with the Innovation Hub," said Matt Dozier, president of EAST.

Added Warwick Sabin, executive director of the Innovation Hub, "We deeply appreciate the confidence in the mission and potential of the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub that this investment represents."
