Early Bird Rate Available for Little Rock SBIR/STTR Phase I Proposal Writing Workshop

Innovative small businesses and university researchers can now take advantage of the early bird registration rate of $100 for the February 20, 2015 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase I Proposal Writing workshop.

This event will be hosted by the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). Registration includes breakfast, lunch and a copy of workshop materials.

Technology-based researchers and innovative entrepreneurs who are developing products with high commercial potential are encouraged to attend the SBIR/STTR Phase I Proposal Writing workshop on Feb. 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Reynolds Business Building (room 251) on the UALR campus. The SBIR/STTR program provides federal funding for innovative research projects that meet federal research and development needs.

Each year, small businesses receive more than $2 billion in federal grants and contracts through the SBIR/STTR program. Covering all 11 agencies that participate in SBIR and STTR, this eight-hour workshop is for early-stage, first-time or unsuccessful writers of SBIR Phase I proposals.

This workshop provides participants with complete in-class exercises using techniques that will help them write more successful proposals that address specific federal agency requirements. Proposal outlines from various agencies will be used, and each major proposal section will be considered in detail, with methods and techniques for covering each section. Two key areas to winning SBIR funding, the work plan and the commercialization plan, will be fully discussed in the workshop.

The instructor is Sharon C. Ballard, CEO of EnableVentures, Inc™. Through her previous venture, Reticular Systems, Inc., Ballard is a multiple-SBIR awardee and entrepreneurial founding executive with extensive experience as entrepreneurial coach and instructor. Ballard has helped companies throughout the nation win hundreds of SBIR/STTR awards since the inception of the program in the early ‘80s.

Participants who register by Feb. 6 qualify for the reduced registration rate of $100. This registration fee covers the cost of breakfast, lunch and workshop materials that are provided for all participants. University faculty, students and staff qualify for a $75 registration rate. For more information about the workshop and to register online, visit http:/I /tinyurl.com/ncgusg9. After Feb. 6, the registration rate will increase to $150.
