AR Scene: Hundreds Gather for Mini Maker Faire

May 4, 2015

Central Arkansas' first Maker Faire event drew hundreds to the Argenta district of downtown NLR on Saturday.

The Innovation Hub hosted the event in and around its Argenta Innovation Center in conjunction with the Argenta Arts Festival.

By all accounts, it was a rousing success.

Todd Jones from the AR Scene was there and has full coverage here, plus a great photo gallery. (And what would a mini Maker Faire be without Star Wars?)

A sample:

The property was divided into ten sections which allowed visitors to learn about projects that were similar from vendors in a close proximity.

Areas of the make faire were the Robot World, Build World, Edcuation World, Presenter World, Space World, Tech World, Awesome World, Flying World, Craft World and the Food Vendors & Beer Garden.

In all, the atmosphere was similar to a carnival, without the rides, and more educational. As I wandered, often several times, throughout the mini maker faire, I met new friends as well as friends I have known for some time.

Good stuff. The (maker) force was strong on Saturday...
